Don’t worry all of you out there in the cyber world, this is not a lame remix of the famous (why is it famous again?) song, “Pants on the Ground.” If you don’t know what I am talking about, you should Google it. I promise you will feel like you wasted 5 minutes of your life. Today I am thankful for one thing that leads to another.
First of all, thank you Google for being the core reason of my distraction. How long will it take me to drive to Colorado? Google will know. What should my next hair cut look like? I bet you Google has the answer. What should I make for supper? Google knows. Also, because of Google, I find websites that distract me even more (i.e.: Pinterest, Facebook, BlogSpot, and so on). Because of these sites which you have led me to, Google, my productivity during the day isn’t always great. Now this may seem like all negativity, but it’s not. I am quite happy with most of my findings through Google. Enter Sock in the Hair.
I came across a website that shows a girl having very beautiful, perfectly curled hair with a tagline that read, “I did this with a sock.” I called nonsense on her. Did this stop me from reading the directions and trying it out myself? Of course not. My exact thought was that if she can do it, so can I. This rarely works out for me by the way, but I am an American (and a woman) and will try stupid things to look great. The process to do this seemed simple enough: 1) You cut the toe off of a knee length dress sock. 2) Roll it up so it looks like a doughnut. (mmm, doughnuts!) 3) Put your dry hair in a ponytail as far on top of your head as you can. (Sporty Spice anyone?) 4) Dampen your ponytail. 5) Take your sock doughnut and put it at the base of the ponytail. 6) Bring the doughnut up until your ends are just clearing it. 7) Roll your ends over the doughnut and keep rolling down. 8) Look like a fool. 9) Sleep. 10) Wake up and look like an even bigger fool. 11) Take the sock doughnut out. 12) Enjoy your curled sock hair.
Does this sound stupid? Why yes, yes it does. Did it work? Why yes, yes it did. It wasn’t perfect, so I added a few curls of my own, but I was pretty dang satisfied. Now, I have a new hairdo that supports my laziness. Now, how to tell Cory I cut the toe off one of his dress socks and put it in my hair…..
I hope some of you aren’t thinking why you just wasted five more minutes of your life reading about my hair (I hope to god you didn’t watch “Pants on the Ground” before you read this because then I really wasted your time). I do have a point to make today to make up for my tirade on what my hair looks like today.
The point of today is… Be thankful for good hair days. We all have them and it makes the day start out great. And also, thank technology and Google because we wouldn’t be where we are at without it.
TGIF my fellow readers! Until next time I leave you with one last thing:
And forget not that the earth delights to feel your bare feet and the winds long to play with your hair.
